About Me

Malaak Yehya is a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She is on the pre-med track majoring in Community Health with a concentration in Health Planning and Administration. She is also minoring in Arabic Studies and completing her Certificate in Leadership. In her gap year, she will attain her Master’s in Public Health at UIUC. She aspires to become a physician who not only recognizes accessibility barriers, but works to combat healthcare disparities and bias in the medical field. As social inequities and healthcare are inextricably linked, she is eager to continue advocating for marginalized folks in her future health profession.

Why Enroll in the Leadership Program?

To be successful is to be a great leader.

Effective leadership is an essential element for organizing, planning, and implementation in the healthcare sector. As a future physician, I believe having strong leadership and communication skills is necessary. I will be able to reach my full potential when providing quality care and treatment. I enrolled in the leadership program to build upon my leadership skills. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to strengthen my skills outside the classroom.
